So little Miss Navi had her own mini photo shoot the other day. Our friend Eileen took some awesome pictures for her birth announcements, but I can't wait until then to share. To quote Randy Jackson on tonight's American Idol - "I sound like a broken record, BUT..."

We think she's pretty cute!

In other Buttars news:

- Nate graduates Saturday!! Hallelujah! And I'm OH SO PROUD of him. At least one of us has some academic aspiration. (if that even makes any sense)

- As you saw from the pictures, we're blessing Navi on Sunday. It might seem a little soon but it's because...

- We leave for good old Ft. Worth, Texas on Monday. Yep, another summer adventure is already staring us in the face. By this time each year I'm usually ready to skip town (besides missing family and friends) and spend the summer in a new state. Although this time around I'm a bit nervous to include a baby in all the chaos. I am happy, however, that I'll have a hangout buddy to spend some of the long summer days with while Nate is out selling.

This will be his last summer selling security systems for APX and when we get back this fall he'll start his "grown up" job with Beneficial Financial where he'll be selling Life Insurance and "doing" -for lack of a better word- some financial planning stuff. So if any of you feel the need to run out and get life insurance...hold off until September! :) Better yet, if you would like a steal of a deal on a security system and by steal I mean you just pay 40 bucks a month for the monitoring and you get the equipment for free. OR if you know anyone of the older generation who might feel more secure with a medical pendant (those necklaces they wear when the fall or need help) get ahold of us before the summer ends!

We're going to be very busy this coming week but we also realize it's a good busy. We are very blessed to have so many positive things going on. I need to remember to step back and be grateful more often.

One Week!

I'm just another one of those new moms learning how fast time really does go by when they aren't in your stomach anymore. I can't believe we've had her a week already!

3 Years

Three years ago from today my Mom passed away.

April has always been a tough month for my family. My Grandpa died in April 19 years ago. My Great-Grandma died in April 15 years ago and then of course, my Mom. Her birthday is also April 2, so for the last few years my family hasn't exactly looked forward to this month.

But last August when I found out I would be having a baby in the first week of April, I couldn't help but be a little emotional. I knew without a doubt it was more than coincidence. Then in November we found out we were having a girl. There weren't any questions she would be named after my Mom!

I'm very grateful for the arrival of our beautiful, healthy baby girl. Because of her, my family has experienced new and happy feelings towards the month. I know the veil is still so thin and my Mom is keeping close watch on Navi Sandra, and therefore me and my family as well.

I love them both so much!

Cry Me a River

Ok people -

I hate reading whiny blog posts. You probably do too. But due to mass amounts of inquires it's much easier to respond once.

We were instructed to call labor and delivery at 5:00 pm to see if we could go up.
In short - "Too many babies being born in Cache Valley. Call back at 7:00 pm."

7:00 pm - "TOO too many babies still being born. You inducing people don't matter. Wait longer. Try again at 10:00 pm."

It's now 9:11 pm and at least 24 helped an hour pass. However, I have little hope for the coming hours. Why this baby doesn't want to come to me in this very annoyed/fuming/desperate-to-be-unpregnant state, I have know idea...

So if the above sentences were an 8th grade math story problem, your end solution would equal this:
1 very ticked off Laci and 1 very lightly-stepping, trying-to-be-supportive-through-Laci's-frustration-tears-even-though-the-hard-stuff-hasn't-even-started-Nate.

P.s. And just a little hormonal not sarcastic in anyway thought:

If anyone has the urge to "remind" me that once she's here I'll wish I was still pregnant, or smugly smile while saying "they're easier in you than they are out", or tell me to get my last few hours of peaceful sleep (cause let's be honest, could you really sleep right now if you were me??), or any other "meant well" tidbits, I just might have to delete your comment, and/or not ever look at your blog again.

Unlike Monica...

I love the show FRIENDS. Quite often I find there are many life situations that can be related or compared to the hilarious show. On more than one occasion I've had to stop myself from saying, "this reminds me of that one time...on FRIENDS..."

What can I say, my ten seasons have kept me good company over the APX summers while Nate has been selling.

One of the most monumental episodes occurs after Chandler and Monica have been trying to have a baby for a very long time. They finally go into the Dr. for infertility tests and Chandler takes the phone call from the Dr. to learn why they can't get pregnant. He then has to break the news to Monica:

"Actually it's both of us," Chandler learns. "Apparently, my sperm has low motility, and you have an inhospitable environment." Monica questions this, to which Chandler responds, "It means my guys won't get off their Barcaloungers, and you have a uterus that is prepared to kill the ones that do."


So what does this have to do with my pregnancy?

Yesterday we went to the Dr. for my 40 week appointment and he told us that if I was dilated at all, he would strip my membranes. Because it was my due date (April 6) I was really hoping we might have a chance to meet Baby Buttars.

However, unlike Monica's, my uterus seems to be a little too hospitable. Baby is obviously content to hang out as long as possible. (Also a good indication that Nate really is the father) :) I realize letting her go over is better than rushing her here, but we are just so excited!

So unless Mother Nature takes charge before next Monday, we'll be going in that night to get induced and we'll be parents by no later than April 14!

Ok, so these pictures are partly for my friend Kimi who lives far away in Pittsburgh, and anyone who might like to see. :)


Here's the close up picture of the bedding from the store website. It kinda makes me wish we would have painted the crib white instead of black, but we already had a black dresser...oh well I think it still looks pretty dang cute!


Obviously the big picture will be cuter when filled with our little child. (This is above the crib)

And the best part: Yes, the frames say Averi, but the "N" on the shelf is for Navi. We still can't decide. However, we did make an "N" sticker for the frames just in case. Do you like how I tried to mimick the bows from the crib? Just call me Martha.

And my favorite...the diaper bag.

There you go. As you can tell, we're VERY excited and about as ready as new parents can possibly be. The rest is up to baby!

April Fools

I could post a baby update and tell you all that I'm having lots of pain.

I could even say my water broke and we're waiting for awhile before we head up to the hospital.

Or if I wanted to be really tricky I could say we did all of that yesterday and we now have Baby with us.

And really...would you dare not believe me???

Although that would be mean, and the thought of that actually even possibly happening makes my pregnant hormones want to cry.

So yes...April Fools.

HOWEVER it's only noon....there is still hope.
