Here is a photo story line of our Halloween activities:




We were the Peanuts! Lucy, Charlie Brown, and Snoopy. I was very proud of my cheap costumes. My dress was a D.I. find, I made Nate's shirt, and Navi's snoopy costume was an Ebay steal! Applause is greatly appreciated. Oh and the thing on Nate's head is a bald cap and what is supposed to be Charlie Brown's one hair...it was a cool idea in my head.


This is our 3rd annual friend party. Party goers include:

BACK - Rem and Traci Rainey, as a turkey and a hunter; Alisha and Dave Webb, as a roulette table and a dealer; Anna, John, and Cache Swenson, as a skeleton family; Dani and Trevor Allen, as a pregnant nun (gasp!) and a Reverend (is that the correct Catholic term?)

FRONT - Me and Nate (Snoopy was sleeping...maybe even while lying on her back on her doghouse), Mallory and Andy Hutchison, as a Prego spaghetti jar (she's prego! haha) and a plate of spaghetti and meatballs; and a sad/tired little pirate nephew.

Instead of candy, Navi got to try Gerber's Puffs for the first time.


Did she love them? Let's just say she inherited her mother's gag reflex. But she got used to them. :)


Snoopy had to take a bath to clean her nose and I just thought this was a cute picture.

And also a random fact...

We have TEETH!! As in more than one! Aunt Ashley discovered her first tooth on her 6 month birthday, October 14, and her second came in a few days later. I wondered how long Nate and I would have gone if Ashley hadn't found the tooth. Navi wasn't fussy at all for the first but her second was a different story. It wasn't too bad, but it was almost like since she knew that we knew she had one, she wasn't going to let us get away with another one breaking in easily.

It's so much fun to watch her grow and change everyday. We love our little Navi Babe!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I LOVE how more and more people are supporting and promoting research for a cure.

I also LOVE how people who have survived the horrible disease are celebrated.

I just HOPE people still remember to celebrate those who weren't as fortunate.

It doesn't mean they didn't FIGHT just as hard to LIVE.

I LOVE YOU MOM.

Tales of a Tenth Month Nothing

I can't completely explain where or how my brain came up with this blog title, but when thinking about what we've been up to lately all I could muster was....a whole lot of nothing.

Do you remember the book "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing"? It was the first book of the "Fudge" series that I'm fairly positive I read in each year of my grade school classes. Ok, maybe 3 out of 5.


So to add to the already confusing, late-night, low-brain-wave, paragraph above, I guess this blog title is what you would get if:
our boring event-less month of October
and
the childhood chapter book
fell in love
and had a child.

(go on, say it. go to bed laci. go to bed!)

I will also place blame on the fact that I can remember I had a very excellent blog idea last night (also very late) right before I fell asleep, however I can't remember what it was. This is what you get instead. Lame.

In other news...

My baby is now 6 months old! What the heck?! It started to really make me sad when I realized that in another short 6 months she will be turning 1!!

Just for fun, or pure lack of recent pictures, (you choose) here are her monthly pictures up to this point. Minus 2 months old...I originally planned on only taking the pictures in 3 month intervals and then changed my mind when I realized how fast she changes. Lame again.

1 month. Still a tad alienish, but also cute.



3 months



4 months. She was dreadfully sick this day (hence the pajamas) although you'd never be able to tell from her smile. Also, this is from my phone. (hence the low quality)



5 months. I just decided to run with the jammie theme. Why not?



6 months. If you would like to take notice, her jammies say Hoot Hoot - I'm Cute. They place a close second to what I like to call her "Elvis PJs" that read: Tweat Me Nice. Complete with robins. I guess I'm a sucker for the bird themed sleep sets.


Speaking of The King...or should I say Navi's newest bedtime routine addition. That's right, like mother like daughter. The kid loves Elvis.

It started out as a desperate attempt to get her to calm down at one of my sister's tennis matches. She was deathly tired and wouldn't give into stroller slumbering. I'm sure it was because every time she would doze off some tennis teen would ace a point, cause crowd chaos, and startle her back to consciousness. Since she normally falls asleep to her lullaby CD I decided to try and put my iphone in her stroller to drown out the noise. This worked for a couple songs until Bon Jovi blasted through the speakers. Frantically I clicked through my artist playlist until it landed on the one and only "E". BINGO. Not even 30 seconds into Love Me Tender and she was out.

It's been a week and every time I put Mr. P on shuffle, I feel like I need to knock on a Wooden Heart. Hearing his voice his like holding a Teddy Bear and without fail she Surrenders and there is no more Crying in the Chapel. What can I say? He is definitely our Good Luck Charm. (Elvis song pun alert!)

I guess we really should have named her Presli.

3, 4 or 5 months?

First off, this post will in fact be covering 3 months since I have been a slacker in the highest regard. Therefore you can back out now if you want.

Secondly, it will also be mostly about Navi Babe. (I always told myself that once she was born I would still post about other aspects of our lives besides just our baby because I didn't want my blog to turn into a "look at how cute my baby is" blog, BUT then she was born and she has become our life...and we wouldn't have it any other way!!)

3 months- July 14
At the time, we were still in Texas, but Navi and I also came home to visit so I asked my friend Bre if she would take Navi's 3 month pictures. Bre has just started taking pictures and she is insanely talented. (me=jealous) (Do I have to seek out talents? I was under the impression they might just fall into my lap...) So here are just a few of my favorites. Thanks again Bre, we love them! (www.borenphotoz.blogspot.com)










3 month milestones:

*rolls from stomach to back constantly and enjoys tummy time just as long as it's not TOO long.
*loves sitting in her Bumbo chair and watching mom cook or clean.
*first plane ride(s) from Dallas to Utah and back. She was a model traveler and slept 98% of both flights. (7.23.09)
*first "real" belly laugh at Aunt Bekka...or maybe the sheep in the background. It was either the sheep "baaing" or Bekka's funny faces, they're both pretty goofy. (7.26.09)
*first trip to the Cache County Fair - an important milestone in the Wallentine family (8.5.09)
*Uncle Cade has been gone on his mission to Chile for one year. (8.13.09) - Almost 4 months old


4 months- August 14
Navi had her 4 month old checkup which was actually more like 4 1/2 months because we had just gotten home from Texas. (9.02.09)

Her stats:
- 16 lbs 11 oz --92nd percentile

- 26 3/4 inches --above 95th percentile

4 month milestones:

*rolls from back to stomach, and from back to back soon after.
*2nd long car ride from Texas to Utah. Again, another great traveler. Now she's been to Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Kansas, Wyoming and obviously Utah.
*sits supported with little help from Mom or Dad.
*first taste of rice cereal and LOVES it! Eats it quick and hardly spits it out. (9.2.09)
First taste of rice cereal. I LOVE this picture. Doesn't she look like a little cherub angel or something? I love her perfect round face, big blue eyes and rosy red cheeks.





* first taste of solid food - sweet potatoes. Mmm Mmm! Not such a fan of squash or carrots...


*loves bath time and kicks, splashes, and squeals to her heart's content


*first trip to Bear Lake over Labor Day weekend with Godfrey cousins and Aunt Allie. first time "swimming" in a pool and lake. (9.6.09 - 9.7.09)

*Navi is a very happy and content baby. People are always commenting on her good-natured attitude and contagious smile. She grins and coos at pretty much everyone. She especially loves her aunts and cousins. (she's getting more and more used to the gruff scary Grandpas) :)


5 months - today! September 14th

As mentioned above, Navi is wonderful baby. I often remind myself that we've been spoiled with such an easy baby. The only time she is upset is when she is hungry or needs her diaper changed. But then again, who is happy when they're hungry or dirty? :) Nate and I thank our Heavenly Father daily for the wonderful blessing she is and for the joy she has added to our lives. As cheesy as it may sound, we couldn't be a happier little family and are so grateful for our beautiful little girl.

Home at Last!

We made it home late last Friday night. Words can't express how excited we are to be home.

Somewhere in Colorado, Nate and I happened to look over and see a car passing us with Texas plates. At precisely the exact same time and with the exact same tone of voice we both said, "Texas...I hate you!"

Now I really don't think we both HATE Texas, I'm sure our use of the strong word possibly had something to do with the 15 or so hours we'd been in the car, but the irony had us laughing for another couple miles. I think we both enjoyed our time down south, but were VERY ready to be home and done.

The ride, as long as it was, actually wasn't that bad. Navi was EXCELLENT. (and no medicine doping required!) :) She probably only had a hour or so of combined unhappy time.

Did I mention feels SO good to be HOME?

Countdown

Well we made it back from our vacation at home. Navi was an excellent
flyer. She slept pretty much both flights. One possibly with
assistance from Tylenol...judge me not.

We had lots of fun with our families and also visiting some friends we
could squeeze in. I was very happy to catch part of the Cache County
Fair and watch my sisters show their animals. They, along with my dad,
work very hard to get steers, lambs, and pigs in to tip top shape for
shows. All their hard work paid off as they took top spots in not only
their fitting (when the animals are judged) but also their showmanship
(where they are judged on how well they show their animal) classes. It
made me even miss my fair showing days.

Since we've been home however, poor little Navi baby has been
congested and stuffy the last 4 or so days. We've tried Vicks on her
chest, a humidifier (as if Texas isn't humid enough) and sucked gunk
out of her nose and throat to no avail. Poor thing. The saddest part
to me is watching her try and be happy. She'll start cooing and
playing just to end up coughing and/or choking on all the crud.

As you can tell from the previous posts or lack there of, we no longer
have access to "borrowed" internet. Aka: unlocked wireless. (Judge me
twice) But I was pleased as punch to learn I could blog from my phone.
As Kip Dynamite would say, "I love technology."
No internet adds to the boring-ness of apartment life now that we have
no TV either. (our 90 days from purchase date expired and we had to
return our TV - again, judge us if you must) :) Let's just say I've
been getting creative with my free time. If nothing else I've been
brushing up on my meager scriptual knowledge.

I've discovered she likes watching movies on the computer with me. This time is was
'Shrek the 3rd'. Not one of my favorites, but probably because we've
through all the others. I also went a bought a cheap umbrella
stroller that we take long walks with. I ended up leaving my big
stroller home so we would have a bit more car space on the ride back.

Navi has been able to roll from her stomach to her back for quite awhile
now, but just started to go the other way, back to stomach. She rolls
back and forth across the floor until she gets caught or sick of it.
Although yesterday she got just plain tired and when I looked over she
had fallen asleep like this:

We have a week and a half left here in the Lone Star state before we
can pack up and head west - for good! And I may or may not have a
personally colored countdown of days left. See what I mean by I've
gotten creative?
