Trevi's Newborn Photos

This little chick wasn't near as happy as her older sister was during her newborn photo session, but that's probably because she could sense her mom's stressed out attitude, and I'm sure it rubbed off. It all started when I left Smithfield to go the photo shoot (in Nibley - about 20 minutes away) and when I was halfway there, I realized I had forgotten about half the stuff I wanted to bring (outfits, bows, bracelets). Grrr! Add that to the fact that I was already running late, and that Navi was starting the whining game, and well, you can understand why Trevi didn't want to cooperate. :)

Trevi was wide awake the whole time and didn't want to curl up in the "newborn ball" pose one bit! Little stinker. It's so funny, because 95% of the time she's such a relaxed and easy going baby. She just wanted to remind us who was in charge! Dani, my friend and photographer, did a great job, and we still got some very cute pics. Check her out HERE. Thanks again Dani!

Will + Kate : A Modern Fairytale

Did anyone else get as caught up in the Royal Wedding as I did? I didn't really think I cared about it until the day before when I decided, on a whim, to record the wedding (which took place at 2 AM my time) just for curiosity's sake. The next morning, as I sat watching with my bowl of Fruit Loops, it didn't take long before I was hooked! Navi recklessly roamed the house and did pretty much whatever she wanted for the 3 hours I was transfixed in front of my TV. I had promised Nate I would wash the sink full of dirty dishes before he came home from work, but as I sat drooling (possibly even Fruit Loop-tainted milk) over the women guests and their whimsical hats, over the magical London setting, and over the historical Westminster Abbey, the dishes quickly slipped my mind.

I guess I just got wrapped up in the idea that Kate, or as she is now known, Her Royal Highness Catherine, grew up a "commoner" and after a "simple" wedding, she will be the Queen of England someday. I couldn't help but think that thirty years ago, when Prince Charles and Princess Dianna were married, my Dad (who happened to be serving his mission in England at the time) was right around my age. Perhaps in another thirty years, I will be watching the wedding of one of William and Kate's children with my daughters.

Weeks ago, when I heard Americans were making the trek to London just for the occasion, I questioned their sanity. Now I wish I could have been there, standing the middle of all the thousands of people, cheering right along side them! I think I would have been screaming and yelling too when the newly named Duke and Duchess of Cambridge drove by on their way to their first kiss as a married couple at Buckingham Palace.

And let's not forget the dress. The dress that will forever be a part of history. Sigh...

To put it simply,

I didn't know I was such a hopeless romantic.

P.S. I LOVE the little bridesmaid on the left. I love that it will be such a funny part of history as well.

Also, if running your mouse over the above picture shows the saved title, you will notice that it is named "best-photo-ever-will-kate-kiss". I did not come up with this, I simply downloaded it.

Navi Baby turns 2!!

The name "Navi Baby" doesn't exactly fit her anymore because she is no longer a baby, (especially with a new baby sister around) but those kind of nicknames don't exactly just go away (just ask my sister "Booie").

 However, the day has come, and my baby is now 2!!

Some of Navi's 2 year isms:

-She loves Baby Trevi and is very protective. If she feels like someone (mostly kids) are getting too close to her, she says, "No! My baby sissy!" (we're working on that)
-She is very polite and says "please, thank you, and welcome" at all the right times. Sometimes even when we forget to say "thank you" she still replies, "welcome!".
-She has made the transition to her toddler bed and usually stays in her bed the whole night, (unless she's stripping down to her birthday suit, but we'll save that for another post) and has been binky free since January. Now we're trying to work on the potty thing...
-She loves to sing and her most requested songs are "Twinkle, Twinkle" and "I Love You" (the Barney song).
-She can count to 15...although 13, 14, and 15 sound similar. :)
-She knows many animals sounds and loves to see the baby lambs and cats Bampa's house.
-She is all girl and loves to get her fingernails painted. At least once a day I get asked, "Mommy! Fingernails? Yeah?"
-She loves all the Disney Princess movies and her favorite is Ariel. She loves the "ahh, ahhh, ahh" song that Ariel sings and usually busts out singing it if Ariel is mentioned.
- Some of her favorite sassy sayings include: "No mom!" "Stop it!" "Go away!" and "Mean, mean, mean!" Sometimes they are actually funny, but usually not at the time she says it. Like in a store when she is freaking out because she thinks she needs something and I tell her no, half the store hears, "No mom! Mean, mean, mean!"

-Her 2 year stats are:
weight: 27.4 lbs - 60%
height: 35 1/4 inches - 90%
head: 19 inches - 75%





On April 14th (and the few days following) we celebrated our Navi Baby by:

The morning started with a #2 pancake. The birthday girl chose to make it blue.

"Minnie Mouse" was also requested

We got ready for the day in her "Birthday Girl" shirt (I couldn't resist the $5 clearance price) and her birthday crown.

Then we went to the mall to meet Grandma Buttars.

She got to ride in the (germ infested...gulp) cars. Hands were washed many times afterwards.

Trevi's 1 month. I decided to go with the BIG frog so we can really see a difference as she grows.

The day after her birthday we celebrated Navi (and the appearance of the sun) at the park. Thanks to all those who made it!

Trevi's First Two Weeks

Two week appointment stats:

- 7 lbs 14 oz - 48% (almost gained a pound since birth!) This makes mom feel much better since Trevi has NOT been the the best nursing baby!

- 20 1/8 inches - 50%

(It's a new experience having a baby with 50% stats because Navi has always been in the 90% or higher)

Navi has taken up the big sister role  and is very protective of "Baby Sissy". Whenever Trevi makes the littlest peep, Navi will come running. She will try and give her the binky or give her a kiss and say, "What wrong Baby Sissy? You ok?"

I was trying to capture a kiss but I couldn't time the delay. I was either too late...

I'm praying they don't and that they stay dark.

Trevi has been a perfect little edition to our family and we are so happy to have her here!
